When I was a kid, I drank a lot of milk, and bottled water wasn’t really a thing. In high school, coffee entered the picture (mostly because my friends liked to hang out at coffee shops), and in adulthood, beer is more common. For USAFacts, we looked at the drinking habits for all Americans and how it’s changed for children, teens, and adults.

Saving for retirement is a slow process with an end goal that can seem far away, especially if you’re young. So we put it off until later. Then time sneaks up on us, for many it seems, and we’re stuck having to work longer and rely heavily on Social Security. Over at USAFacts, we looked at how much Americans save and show how your savings compare.

In the middle of 2022, a popular video on TikTok, since taken down, showed how to easily start a Kia or Hyundai with a USB connector. The trend started a year earlier in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where hundreds of vehicles were stolen every month. USAFacts looked at how the trend spread to other cities.
We tend to talk about elections as this uniform thing. People vote for some other people. But who we vote for, who we vote with, and when we vote for who varies depending on where you look. USAFacts mapped all the different communities for the upcoming midterm elections, so you can see the elections where you are. Select other places and compare.
I played a small part on the data side of this project. Pulling data from a mixed bag of sources and linking them over consistent time and geography was a fun challenge.
